The World of Wyrdstone: the Legend of the Stone and the Chronicle of the Wastelands

AuthorMessage
Wyrdstone was found before anyone understood what had been found. The stone was neither a weapon nor a treasure — it simply answered whoever addressed it, and answered differently each time.

The First Circle
Those who first learned to speak with it gathered into a Circle and built the Academy. Magic was one thing then: the elements were considered facets of a shared gift, not separate paths.

The Schism
The Circle split apart. Each school declared its own element supreme, and the unified knowledge broke into six directions: Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Necromancy, and the path of those who refused to choose.

Splinter Cities
After the Schism, each school withdrew into its own lands and walled them off. That's how the cities of the Wastelands came to be: Valdenmoor on the plains, Eschenhall among marble ruins, Ravenfort on the cliffs, Elderglen in the grove's mist, Frostheim in the snows.

Chronicle of the Wastelands
The calendar is counted from the first mention of the stone in the Academy's records.
• 0 — the first mention of Wyrdstone. The stone is found, but no one understands what to do with it.
• 120 — the First Circle is founded, the Academy appears.
• 460 — the Schism of the elements. The six directions scatter to their own lands.
• 612 — the splinter cities gain independence. Walls rise where roads used to be.
• Now — the mist holds, castles change hands, clans fight over resource points.

The mist between the cities isn't weather. It came with the Schism and hasn't lifted since.

The chronicle is what the winners wrote down. Taverns tell it differently. If you have your own story, song, or ballad about the Wastelands — this section is for it.
