A profession in Wyrdstone starts with a license. Licenses are sold by the Municipality of Eschenhall.
How buying works
• A license lasts one week.
• Only one license can be active at a time.
• The price is 50 crowns × your character's level. Your highest level in the current incarnation counts: at level 10, that's 500 crowns.
Mastery
Each license has three to five levels. The level rises from mastery points you earn by working the profession. Points accumulate separately for each type and never expire when a license runs out or you switch to another.
Librarian — 5 levels (point thresholds: 1,000 / 10,000 / 100,000 / 1,000,000)
Scroll production in the Workshop. Mastery grows by the cost of each scroll; each level speeds up production by 20%.
Smith — 5 levels (same thresholds)
Artifact production in the Workshop, under the same terms.
Mercenary — 5 levels (200 / 500 / 750 / 1,000)
Hiring out for clan wars over resource points: +5 points for a win, +1 for taking part in each war duel.
Pathfinder — 4 levels (200 / 500 / 1,000)
Travel across the world is 10% faster per level, with a 10% chance per level to slip past the Marksman unseen. +1 point for each Wastelands creature defeated. Also lets you slip past guards at cybOrc caravans.
Trapper — 3 levels (200 / 500)
A 5% chance per level to seize an artifact from a Wastelands creature (rare ones: 1% + 5% per level). +1 point for each artifact seized.
The Workshop
Production runs on recipes: resources go in, a specific item comes out. Orders join a queue; finished goods go to the Workshop's storage (up to 1,000 units of each item) and can be sold for 60% of their cost.

The early levels of a license are an investment: you spend crowns and raw materials so that later you can make, for yourself, what others have to buy.
